For over 35 years, CorKey Control Systems locksets have been installed
in harsh environments: on pier gates in Marinas, for a hotel built on
the permafrost in Alaska, for condos that survived two hurricanes on the
Hawaiian island of Kauai. Although chrome plating and powder coating of
exposed parts have been of help in these locations the finishes eventually
corroded like most lock hardware and, while still operating, showed the
effects of their respective climates. There are
many properties in these types environments, and there has been a continuing
complaint that lock hardware does not withstand the ocean salt spray,
winter conditions in the mountains and sand and wind.
Modern
advances in metal technology have created a resistance to these damaging
effects and CorKey is pleased to introduce a line of card-operated mechanical
and Entrac® (Entrance Tracking) electronic locks specifically designed
for such locations, incorporating Stainless Steel and Titanium finishes
with greatly increased durability…
The “Marine Series”.

| Electronic
locks:
In the past, CorKey has developed versions of electronic
battery-operated locks for hotels for interior use only. They used
magnetic stripe cards and required periodic maintenance. Since the
cards physically touched the magnetic reading head, the cards could
become scratched, wet, bent and affected by magnetic fields which
could destroy the data on the cards. Then came the age of Proximity
card reading, where cards could be identified by simply holding
them close to the card reader. These early devices required either
batteries in the card or coils of

 |
wire
and again a separate card was needed in addition to the CorKey card
used for mechanical locksets in the same facility. |
|
|
But
now instead of coils of wire in the cards, the chip and antenna
in the card can be produced on a paper thin plastic film. For the
first time it became possible for CorKey to produce a dual function
card with the magnetic coding needed for its existing line of locksets
PLUS contain the electronic chip and antenna in the same size and
thickness of its standard CorKey card. Thus the PowerProx®
card became a reality One card to be used in both mechanical and
electronic locksets. |
The PowerProx
card makes it possible for CorKey to offer an Electronic Lock in
addition to its Mechanical Lock products: |

The
Grade 1 UL rated Mortise Lockset of Entrac Model 3000M
is standard size and shape fits ANSI door preparation. Right or
Left handing is easily reversible in the field and it incoporates
a one inch throw deadbolt, it is of Grade 1 construction. For the
MARINE SERIES, weather protection is increased by the card slot
being at the bottom of the card reader. For indoor use the card
slot can be positioned at the top. Most unusual for RFID locks,
these card readers have metallic housings which provides excellent
physical protection. This allows the inserted card to be electronically
scanned while inside the housing after enabling the electronics
only during the card reading instant. Not only does this greatly
inc- |
rease battery life, but the transmission from the antenna in the
lock cannot be detected outside of the reader providing greatly
increased security of the data. The locks are the first of their
type to feature “NDT”, (Non-DetectableTransmission).

in rechargeable AA dry cells, the batteries are expected to last
the life of the lock without the need periodically discard dead
alkaline cells and purchase replacements.
Entrac locks allow their batteries to take a good rest. |

|
The
Entrac Model 3000C is a Grade 2 Cylindrical
lockset with latch that fits with little change to the door
in the same holes where standard doorknob or lever handle
mechanical locks are presently installed.
|
Mechanical
override for the electronic locks is also card-operated
using a small CorKey steel card into the outside trim
plate of the lock. |

|
The
Entrac Model 3000W is a wall mounted card reader
for actuation of electrical door releases and “Panic”
exit devices.
